Originally a rocket scientist, I helped develop rocket engines in the 60's and helped on all of the Apollo launches at Cape Canaveral. Exciting times. Got involved with a small group of rocket scientists that loved to play jazz and got the fever (tenor and bass). Still have a 60's influence on my music.
Moved on to stay involved with early computers and am able to program my way out of a paper bag. Never got involved seriously with music as a career. Now retired in San Diego where I can keep my keyboard wired to the computer and store any riffs that sound catchy.

No Cal (Tjader) This is a latin tune, actually inspired by Cal Tjader, but I realize that it is too mellow for Cal. It is 40 bars, ABA. Here's a MIDI arrangement.
Flying High on a Good Note - medium swing. Here's a MIDI sequence of the tune.
The River Never Ends
- picture a massive river flowing by.
That river never stops flowing - Lyrics to come (someday).
Here's a MIDI sequence of the tune.
Heart Breaker
- A country swing style piece that works on some
simple changes. The midi version adds a guitar track for swing
backing and the lead chorus.
Here's a MIDI sequence of the tune.
What Comes Around - A blues for those that can't leave well enough alone. Listen to this MIDI sequence of the tune if you like.
Trippin' - A really simple song with some easy changes, but I thought it came together very well. It is only 24 bars, so it is pretty short. Here's the MIDI sequence.
And here's a cool development: Johnny produced this MIDI sequence of Frank Amsallem's tune Affreusement Voutre that he found on this site!
