Hi, I'm Sam Hokin and I play guitar, write songs and arrange and produce music with a home MIDI/PC studio. This page has all the links to my audio and MIDI pages, but I'm also the curator of Original Jazz Charts on the Web , where you can find lots of lead sheets for original jazz tunes with e-mail addresses to contact the composers. My wife Carla Shedivy and I have our own page there.
Some of my solo recordings are here. I'll add more as I record them off of tapes or record new tunes.
Astrin Few is my avatar in Second Life. I was the first musician to perform live in Second Life (ie. I played live over a Shoutcast stream while being logged into Second Life, interacting with the other residents).
Micala and Sam is a recording duo that had its heyday in the mid 90s. Micala is a singer and poet whom I met on the Internet Relay Chat network DALnet. We co-wrote tunes, recorded parts separately and together, and wound up with a CD. Download it.
the nova trio is my old jazz group back in Madison. We played lots of bossa nova tunes and other jazz standards. Since I read and post articles to rec.music.bluenote, we have a tune, Blue Morning, which was on the rec.music.bluenote sampler CD produced in 1995. You're hearing the tune right now if you've got a plugin that handles MIDI.
Some recordings I did with Adam Whiteman are here. Adam is a good friend, pianist and superb composer that has done some musical projects with me.
Or, you've finally found a link to learn about the overtone series for strings. After all, it's been said that all of jazz and classical harmony is "in the overtone series".
